Ageing Skin

Chances are we’ll all grow to a ripe old age. But as we do, our skin also ages, losing skin collagen and fat. This often shows itself in thin skin, wrinkles and loss of volume. And this, in turn, can lead to folds and furrows and a ‘well-worn’ or sunken appearance to many areas of skin coverage.

We define ageing skin in two ways, ‘intrinsic’ meaning areas that are usually covered by clothing (like your bum), or extrinsic, meaning exposed areas like your face and hands. Most cases of ageing skin are concentrated in the extrinsic areas; often as a result of sun damage or smoking.
